Visit the Golden Islands off Hyères

Set sail and visit the famous Golden Islands! These three islands represent an exceptional natural heritage off the coast of Hyères.

Follow the guide and discover the beauty of this Mediterranean archipelago.

Porquerolles Island

Certainly the best-known of the three islands, Porquerolles attracts an ever-increasing number of visitors from Hyères. Covering an area of 1254 hectares, the island is classified as a national park, which means it is well preserved. It is particularly popular with nature lovers and hikers. Porquerolles is a perfect blend of dense, natural vegetation, steep coasts and splendid fine sand beaches.

The most visited of all the island’s beaches is certainly the Plage d’Argent. This long, white-sand beach is reminiscent of Corsica. The translucent waters and Mediterranean vegetation make it a real little corner of paradise in the middle of the sea. There’s also a beachside restaurant where you can enjoy a meal.

Levant Island

Looking for a place to recharge your batteries near Hyères? Look no further than Ile du Levant! This island in the îles d’Or archipelago offers you a real return to nature opposite the Hyères roadstead. With a small village and harbour, as you head deeper into the island along the paths, you’ll find yourself back in the wilderness.

You can discover the Domaine des Arbousiers, with its blend of Mediterranean scents. Another special feature of Le Levant: naturism. This island allows naturism both inland and by the sea, for a complete return to basics.

The island of Port Cros

Walk, dive and experience the underwater beauty of Port Cros National Park. From La Palud beach, you can explore the seabed by diving or borrowing an aquascope (a glass-sided boat).

Cars are strictly forbidden on Port-Cros. The island’s three footpaths are therefore reserved exclusively for hikers and walkers visiting the island. From the village of Port Cros, you can set off on an excursion to the smallest of the Golden Isles.

Starting point for the Golden Isles: the Presqu’île de Giens

Off-center from the other three islands and attached to Hyères, the Giens peninsula is a jewel to behold when staying on the Var coast. A 10-minute drive from Porquerolles and the departure point for the Golden Isles, Giens forms the link between land and sea. Connected to the mainland by a tombolo, the peninsula is a favorite spot for Hyérois to go for walks or bike rides along the water’s edge.
